Laughing Lee

I love having a peer mentor in our class. I know that their role is to help to help ease our transition into college life, but I feel like Lee does more than that. She also helps us a lot with easing into life just in general.

She is always really nice and laid back; she adds a tranquil element to the class. Even though we are doing work within the fifteen minutes we spend with her, I feel like its relaxing and it usually takes my mind off any stress I have been having with school. She always leaves us on a positive note.

One of the things she had us do last week was to make a list of ten things we are passionate about. Next she made us narrow the list down to three and then one. (mine turned out to be Family) The point of this was to realize what we are most passionate about and to put it into perspective. She brought to our attention that the career we choose, will probably be sticking with it for the rest of our lives. So it’s probably a good idea to be passionate about it.

While doing my mid-term project, I came to the conclusion (one I hadalready assumed) that when you are doing something you love, you enjoy it more and you are better at it. Intrinsic motivation should be what we use in our work lives, not extrinsic. If we were all intrinsically motivated all the time, I think that a lot of people would not only be more productive but happier as well. Lee really made me think twice about my major, and I m thankful for that.

Now I’m minoring in business =D
