Road Block

I am horrible at math, any one who knows me could tell you that. It doesn’t really help me that my math professor is Russian and has a very thick Russian accent. On top of that, his English is terribly choppy. He doesn’t understand questions when you ask them, and instead of letting you repeat or verify your question, he thinks for a few seconds about it and then goes on a rant about what he thinks the answer should be. He does this by going through a problem on the board, in which he doesn’t show all the steps and he doesn’t explain his work. Then when you try to tell him that wasn’t the answer to the question you asked, he tells you that it is, and its that simple and if you don’t understand it you should go see a tutor.

So being in class with this man has been a huge difficulty all year long. My professor has not been able to help me once with anything. I was very preoccupied at the beginning of the year with my rude history professor. I was so wrapped up in making sure that I could fix that problem, I my math to the side. By the time I realized I should have switched math professors it was so far into the semester it was pointless.

So I turned to my boy friend, he is a math major. I started just copying everything the teacher wrote on the board down and bringing to Mike (my boyfriend) when I got a chance. He has helped me to understand the material and he is the only reason I am passing the class. Every week Mike helps me through my math. It has been my hardest class of the year, but I think that I have been able to make the best of a bad situation.
