RIP Mr.Kucinskas

At the moment, I am enrolled as a secondaryhistory education major, in short a high school history teacher is my goal. I was that kid teachers loved to hate, I had little interest in the things I was being taught and was a class clown. My teachers never did much to change my ways. That is, until the fourth grade.

Mr.Kucinskas was my history teacher that year, and for the first time, I got interested in what was going on in school. His room was filled with artifacts from the time period he was teaching us, most of them ones he and his wife had made themselves. We got to use them first hand!

When he lectured us, he would put on different accents and act like the people we where learning about. I gained respect for him, and he inspired me, that was the year I decided was going to be a “cool” teacher like him.

Now I am going to college to become a history teacher much like the one Mr.Kucinskas used to be. My classroom will be filled with props from history and when I am teaching a class, I will take them back to the specific time and place. My goal is to get kids interested in school and history same way Mr. Kucinskas did.

I am not 100% sure any more though, I am pretty sure I am goingto follow through with the teaching thing, but only time will tell. I still want to do something art related because that is my bigger passion, we’ll see what happens! =]
