I am currently going to college to be a history teacher, but I secretly want to open my own small business instead of teaching high school kids for a living. I am going to try to minor in business because I am crazy and already have a plan for everything. My current plan is to get out of college and try to find a job teaching then in my spare time, sell my art online and hopefully expand from there!
So for this weeks assignment, I found blogs of two women who do just that! Run businesses online selling their artwork. I found one by a women named Johanna Parker and another by Geninne. Their blogs are interesting to me for two reasons, the first being, I wish to have one like theirs some day, and the second being the pictures.
Both blogs have pictures of their work, Geninne is a painter and print maker while Johanna works with sculpture. I work with all different kinds of media so between their two blogs I have collected quit a few ideas.
In Geninne’s Art Blog, she uses a format that really just puts her work out there. She has large pictures of her work and then has small captions under them describing them. There are links all over the place to other blogs and to the site you can actually buy her work from.
Johana’s blog is a little more traditional than Geninne’s. She writes her entrees in paragraph form and then adds pictures of her work and her store. (Her business has expanded enough for her to own a store!!!) She also has links to her online store.
I find both blogs extremely interesting because I hope to join them someday. Others might find them interesting because they demonstrate so many different ideas on how to blog and express yourself!
