The Moon

I find this INQ class the most stimulating, simply because this is the class that really makes me think. Between the ongoing discussions in the class room in responses to the articles we read, and the activities done in our Lee time I am always thinking in that class, sometimes I even continue to think about the topics outside of class.

For example last week’s articles really got me thinking. I already think of our generation as pretty ridiculous and narcissistic and spoiled…pretty much awful. I really get annoyed with it, I don’t mean to offend anyone in our generation, because we are not all like that, but you have to admit there we are more than not. I feel I can only say this because I am a part of this generation.

After reading last weeks articles I will admit I was really excited to see what people would say about them in the discussion. I was surprised though when no one else brought up the theme of narcissism, which was a big theme in some of the articles. Everyone wanted to focus on grade inflation and they just ignored the whole nonracist thing. It just made me come to the conclusion that our generation also doesn’t like to talk about things that may be true but shameful. It’s a really bad thing to ignore the truth though.

In Lee time she has been talking a lot with us about what makes us happy and how we can make that a part of the rest of our lives. It really makes me re-think my major and my over all plan. I used to think that it was a bit more important to join a field were its easier to get a job, but now I am seeing that it is far more worth it to take the road less traveled and go for what you love. It’s like that saying, “shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will land among the stars.” I am going to shoot for what makes me most happy, even if I don’t get that, I will get something close to it. To bring this to an end, inquiry is my most stimulating class because it is the one that I can relate my life best to.

I like this post, not because you talk about my class, but because you come to the conclusion to follow what path you see as right for you. That takes a lot of risk, but is so worth it in the long run rather than settling for second best. I think Lee has been a great influence on you.

not that I don't love Lee, but I have kind of always been that way, she re-inforces it though! =D and thank you
